Paradox said the fix was not made to deliberately stop players from adding same-sex marriage mods to the game.
After reaching out to the publisher about the cause of this error, Paradox Interactive told RockPaperShotgun that the change 'was a part of a set of fixes around concubine-related behaviors in the game, leading to buggy outcomes like concubines being assigned to dead people.'
The block was made because before the 1.3 update in March, 'same-sex concubinage was unintentionally possible to mod in' and while Paradox Interactive wasn't against that, the mods 'had the potential to cause a variety of errors.'īack when the 1.3 update dropped in March, modders were met with an error that said 'Illegal concubinage: is the same gender as their concubinist, so they can't become a concubine,' according to RockPaperShotgun.
